This busy, hustling town is considered mostly as a favourable base point for visiting the forts of Shivaji, Pratapgad, Raigad, Shivneri and Sinhagad and for Ashtavinayak Towns. But, it also boasts of its own attractions like the Shaniwar Wada, Bund Gardens, the Snake Park, Kelkar museum and Kasturba Gandhi Samadhi Mandir. Pune is 170 kms. from Mumbai and is a railway junction.


This cool breezy hill station will offer you exciting viewpoints, lakes, waterfalls and abundance of wildlife at the Dhakana Kolkaz National Park. Chikhaldhara is 763 kms. from Mumbai by road and the nearest railhead is Badnera.


Vast stretches of glittering white sand beaches, age old forts and an ancient pilgrim center bearing a naturally formed idol of Ganapati is what makes this place so enchanting. Ganapatipule is 375 kms. from Mumbai by road and the nearest railhead is Ratnagiri only 50 kms. away.


This small town known for its tranquil and picturesque beach is also land marked by Kalbhairav Temple. An adventure boat ride in the northern part of the bay will lead you to where the Peshwas of the Maratha kingdom originally resided. You can also visit the Bangkot fort only 4 kms. away. Harihareshwar is 230 kms. from Mumbai by road and the nearest railhead is Mangaon 65 kms. away.


Here you will find the largest collection of the Chaitya cave dating back to the 2nd century BC, which are characterised by beautiful carvings and story telling inscriptions. Few kms. away are the famous 18th century fort Lohagad and Visapur and the breathtaking Valvan Dam. Karla is 114 kms. from Mumbai by road and the nearest railhead is Malavli just 2 kms. away.


Chaitya cave

This is the seat for one of the five Jyotirlingas in Maharashtra and draws hundreds of pilgrims from all over India. A large fair is held in the month of February-March and every twelve years the famous Sinhastha Fair takes place. The Bramhagiri Hill, Neel Parvat, Kushawart Teerth, Gangadwar are other attractions. Trimbakeshwar is 208 kms. from Mumbai and the nearest railhead is Nasik.


Reaching Matheran in a toy like train which meanders up the mountain will treat you to breath taking views. There is plenty to see like the lake Charlotte, Honeymoon Hills, Panther's Cave and lots more. Matheran is 108 kms. from Mumbai and has its own railway station.


Here you will be offered a splendid climate, magnificent scenery, numerous hamlets, sparkling rivers and a panoramic tableland. You can also visit the Kannalgad Fort and pay homage at Ganesh Temple. Panchgani is 270 kms. from Mumbai by road and the nearest railhead is Walthar.


This erstwhile historic capitol of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb will fascinate you with marvellous examples of Mughal architecture like the "Bibi-Ka-Maqbara", "Panchakki", "Sunheri Mahal" and the intricately curved sculptures of the Buddhist Caves. You can also visit Daulatabad, the capital of the temperamental king Mohammad-Bin-Tuglaq only 13 kms. away and an easy excursion is also recommended to Ghrishneshwar one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. Aurangabad is 388 kms. from Mumbai by road and is the main railway station by itself.



Devotees belonging to every faith throng to this abode of Saint Saibaba to pay their respects. Seasonal fairs are organised on mammoth scale and is a major attraction. Shirdi is 296 kms. from Mumbai and the nearest railhead is Kapragoan.


This popular hill resort is at an altitude of 1372 m and boasts of 30 exotic viewpoints. Boating on the tranquil waters of lake Venna and be mesmerised by the beauty of the Lingmala Falls. A visit to the Mahabaleshwar Temple is also recommended. Mahabaleshwar is 247 kms. from Mumbai and the nearest railheads are Wathar and Pune.
